Phu Bia Mining retains Chevrons “Best in Class” lubrication standards for fifth consecutive year

Phu Bia Mining (PBM) is pleased to announce for the fifth consecutive year, both the Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operations have achieved “Chevron’s Best in Class Five Star rating” for the Reliability-Focused Lubrication (RFL) practices. 

A Chevron Assessment Team from Thailand audited both Phu Kham (PKM) and Ban Houayxai (BHX) Fixed Plant Maintenance workshops and lubrication facilities during April 2026, scoring the reliability-focused lubrication standards and practices at both operations against international standards. For the first time ever, the Fixed Plant Maintenance (FPM) Lubrication teams at both sites have achieved outstanding “perfect 100% scores”  

PBM has undertaken the Chevron’s lubrication assessment since 2015. In 2019, both Phu Kham and Ban Houayxai Operations achieved their first 5-star rating scoring 95 per cent and 97.6 per cent, a standard that has improved year on year, excluding the covid years. 

Undertaken as part of Chevron’s Customer’s Value Guarantee, commitment, Phu Bia Mining annually undergoes these assessments to ensure best lubrication practices are being followed, any new improvement opportunities are identified and are acted on. Excellent lubrication and contamination control practices are one of the key maintenance principles used to achieve the exceptional plant availability statistics Phu Bia Mining enjoys at both PKM and BHX sites. 

The new perfect results mark an important milestone the Company continues to excel with its focus on extending the life of equipment, lowering operating costs and ultimately reducing the operations’ impacts on the surrounding environment.
