Frieda River Limited (FRL) recently participated in PNG Resources Week and Golden Expo 2026, using the sixday event to engage with government representatives, industry stakeholders, development partners, educators, students and community members while sharing updates on the Sepik Development Project.

Held from 13 to 18 July in Port Moresby, the event provided an important platform for FRL to showcase its “More Than Just Mining” campaign and highlight the company’s commitment to responsible development, environmental stewardship and long-term community partnerships.

Throughout the week, FRL maintained a strong presence through its exhibition booth and participation in several industry discussions and forums. Frieda River Project Director Phil McCormack represented the company in presentations on project development, security and digital transformation, while also supporting the launch of Papua New Guinea’s Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR) In-Country
Working Group.

Mr McCormack said events such as PNG Resources Week create valuable opportunities for organisations to engage directly with stakeholders and build stronger relationships.

“For us, it’s about building trust through transparency, accountability and collaboration. Events such as PNG Resources Week allow us to have meaningful conversations with government, communities, industry partners and future generations about what responsible project development looks like.”

He said ongoing engagement remains an important part of FRL’s approach to project development. “The Sepik Development Project is about more than developing a resource. It is about creating lasting value through strong partnerships, environmental responsibility and genuine engagement with the people and communities connected to our project area.”

One of the highlights of the week was Golden Expo’s School Engagement Day, where FRL representatives met with students from 10 schools to discuss the Sepik Development Project, career opportunities within the resources sector and the range of professions that contribute to the development of large-scale projects. The event provided students with an opportunity to learn more about the mining industry and engage directly with industry professionals, while also giving FRL an opportunity to share insights into the skills and pathways needed for future careers.

FRL also welcomed strong interest from government officials, industry representatives and development partners throughout the week. The conversations helped strengthen existing relationships, establish new connections and increase awareness of the company’s responsible development approach.

Participation in PNG Resources Week and Golden Expo 2026 reflects FRL’s ongoing commitment to stakeholder engagement, transparency and creating long-term value for Papua New Guinea and the communities connected to the Sepik Development Project.
