PanAust is pleased to advise that its Operations in Laos have retained their Caterpillar 5-star Contamination Control (CC) ratings for their mobile maintenance workshop and supply warehouse at Phu Kham, and mobile maintenance workshop at Ban Houayxai. The achievement follows the annual CC audit that was completed in early November.
The Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation first achieved Caterpillar’s highest rating for its mobile maintenance workshop and supply warehouse in 2013. The Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation followed suit, achieving the highest recognition for its mobile maintenance workshop in 2014.
Both Operations have since retained their 5-star ranking. Furthermore, the Operations remain the only workshops and warehousing facilities to achieve the rating in a developing country.
The Company’s Caterpillar 5-star CC program recognises teams for achieving best practice standards for their CC work. It’s a proxy for excellence in housekeeping standards and practices and operational excellence through equipment reliability improvements, major component life extension and maintenance cost reductions.
For the first time, the pre audit preparation was led by senior Lao-national employees and its success depended on everyone banding together as ‘one team with one goal’.
The achievement by the site teams to retain these ratings is particularly commendable given the manning and workforce challenges the COVID-19 pandemic bought. The achievement underpins safety, high availability and achieving cost efficient outcomes.
